Mini Medics

This is a very basic introduction to First Aid for all children and aimed at children between the ages of 8 and 11, but it can suit children of any age. The content is kept nice and basic and avoids the use of confusing terminology. It is very educational and practical and instills the importance of helping someone who is poorly or injured.

The course duration is approximately 3 hours consisting of class interaction and practical training. The syllabus covers the following topics:

• What is First Aid
• Recovery Position
• Resuscitation (CPR) & use of AED
• Wounds and bleeding
• Shock
• Communicating and contacting the emergency services
• First Aid kits
• DR ABC (Primary Survey)
• Asthma
• Safety

This is a non-regulated course and attendance is all that is required. A maximum of 16 children can be accommodated per instructor.

Each student receives the following:

• A 32-page fully illustrated A4 colour book including a cut-out 'Mini Medics' certificate
• A 4-page worksheet with fun and educational activity provided
