With this qualification, customers can achieve either the one day Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) or the three day First Aid at Work certificate with the added components for Forestry environments. The Forestry elements contribute an additional two hours to either the FAW or EFAW courses. If you already hold an FAW or EFAW qualification, we can conduct this course as a stand alone unit to add to your existing qualification.
Forestry First Aid includes Catastrophic Bleeding Management, Lymes Disease, Thermal Conditions such as Heat Stroke, Heat Exhaustion and Hypothermia, and Crush Injuries.
This course is available for deliivery at your premises or we can arrange suitable location in the Tamworth area. Much of the training is practical in nature and will be conducted outside. Depending on how the course is delivered ie as part of EFAW/FAW or as a stand alone qualification the cost varies. Please contact us for costings. NB if you require us to deliver the course on its own, we will require evidence of an existing, in-date EFAW or FAW.
Do I need this qualification to work on Forestry Commission land as a private contractor?
Contractors, hauliers, and others wishing to work on Forestry Commission land need to show that they comply with the FC First Aid policy. This can be found at www.forestry.gov.uk. Those working in core operations such as harvesting, civil engineering, mechanised ground preparation, planting, fencing pesticides application or similar, including lone workers or site supervisors will require training with a forestry context in addition to EFAW or FAW.
