Activity First Aid
This Level 2 National qualification is made up of two units including Emergency First Aid at Work. It is specifically designed for those who are involved in any form of activity including sports, leisure and recreation. This is a very comprehensive qualification and requires 12 contact hours consisting of practical and theoretical activities. Subjects covered include:
- Responsibilities and reporting
- Assessment of the situation
- Dealing with an unresponsive casualty
- Basic hygiene in First Aid
- Fractures
- Diabetes
- Electrical Injuries
- Heat and cold injuries
- Resuscitation
- Heart attacks
- Minor injuries
- Bleeding control
- Head injuries
- Burns
- Spinal injuries
- Asthma
- Choking
- Seizures
- Shock
Assessment is ongoing by the instructor along with a multiple choice question paper on completion of each day. On successful completion of the course a three year qualification will be issued. For those who successfully complete unit 1, this equates to an Emergency First Aid at Work qualification. The course can be delivered over several days if required.
