First Aid at Work (FAW)

First Aid at Work. HSE FAW. First Aid in the workplace.

First Aid at Work (FAW)

This is a National Level 3 Award that satisfies the requirements of the Health & Safety Executive Code of Practise and Ofqual. It is a suitable qualification for organisations that identify a need for First Aid at Work practitioners. The course duration is eighteen contact hours, consisting of practical and theoretical activities. The course is best conducted in 3 six-hour day sessions but other arrangements can be made to suit your requirements. We are able to deliver this course in daytime or at weekends to suit. All students will be assessed on their ability to act safely, promptly and effectively for a casualty who is unresponsive, requires CPR, is wounded, injured or suffering from a major illness. Subject to assessment, all participants will be issued with a First Aid at Work certificate (and wallet card) approved by the Health and Safety Executive. This qualification is valid for three years, which can be renewed by attending a suitable two-day re-qualification course. The HSE strongly recommends that all First Aiders attend an annual refresher programme of a minimum three hours duration. The syllabus covers the following subjects:
